Rebel Wolves showcase fresh gameplay from The Blood of Dawnwalker – featuring new mechanics, a duality system, and surprisingly open quest paths.

Rebel Wolves have released a new gameplay overview. The Blood of Dawnwalker The presentation showcased the game's development progress and its consistent implementation of the concept of duality in both story and gameplay. It continued the conclusion of a quest first revealed in June, this time featuring new elements, a revamped combat system, and two distinct solutions.

The studio emphasizes that the game is currently in pre-beta, meaning not everything is running smoothly yet. Nevertheless, it's already clear that this is more than just an ordinary fantasy RPG. Players once again take on the role of Coen, who acts as a human by day and a vampire by night—a mechanic that is not merely cosmetic but an integral part of every decision.

Two paths, one goal

The new gameplay footage showcases a quest centered around the legendary swordsman St. Mihai, experienced in two ways: once by day and once by night. During the day, Coen utilizes his human abilities, such as magic, conversation, and the Compel Soul Hex, which allows him to question the dead. At night, the game transforms into a more aggressive mode, where Coen, armed with vampiric powers like Shadowstep and Voracious Bite, stalks through cathedrals and eliminates guards in real-time combat.

Rebel Wolves no longer speaks of "main and side quests," but rather of a narrative sandbox system. Every mission can be solved differently, regardless of whether one chooses the diplomatic route or prefers blood and shadows.

Responding to feedback

Following criticism of the camera and combat flow in the June demo, the team has visibly responded. The camera can now be adjusted in distance and perspective, and the menu for active abilities continues to run without pausing—a clear step toward smoother gameplay. The world of Vale Sangora also gains in atmosphere. Rituals like the "Blood Mass," in which villagers donate blood, deepen the political and religious power structure of the vampires.

The Blood of Dawnwalker (our previewWith each update, it becomes clearer where Rebel Wolves is headed: a dark, narratively open role-playing game that sits somewhere between The Witcher and Vampire: The Masquerade It moves, but with more of its own identity.
