In The Chant One seeks peace, tranquility, and enlightenment, and for this purpose seeks an idyllic and secluded island. But the dark side of spirituality breaks through the boundaries of normality here, and one encounters a multitude of ethereal horrors unleashed after a ritual chant goes horribly wrong and a portal to a nightmarish dimension called The Gloom is opened.
This dimension feeds on negative energy and drives you and everyone else insane by exploiting fears and anxieties, manifesting them as interdimensional creatures. The Chant takes players on a journey of psychedelic horror unlike anything they've experienced before.
Despite this threat, all hope is not lost. As a player, you delve into the secrets of a 1970s New Age cult, simultaneously exploring your mind, body, and soul. The goal is to reverse the effects of the chant and avoid being trapped in The Gloom forever.
