Prime Matter and Brass Token are today introducing the faces behind their comical horror title The Chant ahead, which will be released this autumn.
The new short film explores the depth and psychology of the colorful and eccentric characters, while simultaneously revealing the protagonists' stories. It also unveils what brought each of them to the Prismic Spiritual Retreat on the remote Glory Island.
This allows us to learn how their minds work and to understand the deep darkness within each of them, thus tracing the beginnings of their terrifying journey. For the first time, the actors behind the characters reveal what it was like to create their roles for the horror-action-adventure game. The Chant to bring to life.
The story begins with the main character: Jessica Briar, played by Siobhan Williams, who is asked by her friend Kim Mallari (played by Kira Clavell) to come to the remote Glory Island for a spiritual retreat. Jess is happy to get away from the city and her stressful life and career for a few days. Why not? She considers herself someone who is ready to try new things and is also ready to process a traumatic event from her youth with Kim. What she doesn't know is that she will be forced to adopt a new way of thinking in order to survive the horrors.
What happens on Glory Island
Kim has been looking forward to the retreat ever since she first heard Tyler Anton (Adam Millard) talk about it in one of his seminars. Since becoming Tyler's student, she feels more alive than ever. She's very grateful that Tyler allowed, and even encouraged, her to invite Jess, but is Tyler really the healing, powerful, and spiritual leader he claims to be?
He inherited the island from his troubled mother and is now ready to invite a small group of followers on a transformative journey into prismatic science. Clearly the sign he's been waiting for. It's time to make his mark on the world, and perhaps even the cosmos.
Hannah Wilson, played by Emily Tennant, is thrilled at the thought of welcoming the retreat participants. She has spent the last few months as Tyler's right-hand woman; she has never felt such a sense of belonging before.
Maya Kalani (voiced by Nicole Anthony) is on the island because she believes this retreat is her first step toward confronting her past scars and finding true healing. On her journey, she met Tyler, whose keen eye recognized her pain and easily guided her into the retreat. She embodies a special spirit and energy.
Since meeting Tyler, Sonny Sonti (Praneet Akilla) has decided to dedicate his energy (and a portion of the family fortune) to his vision of advancing prismatic science and creating a movement. This is his chance to find greater purpose and break free from a pattern of broken promises and self-destruction.
The bottom line: Fascinating characters and plenty of reasons to join the adventure on Glory Island! Players can expect an exciting journey that reveals the strengths and weaknesses of each participant in the spiritual retreat.
The Chant It will be released this fall. The limited edition can be pre-ordered now.
