Berlin-based studio Yager returns today with their new project, 'The Cycle', after recently losing the contract for 'Dead Island 2'. They are now working on a match-based first-person shooter for PC and consoles.
The Cycle is a first-person shooter where you fight in short matches (around 20 minutes) to complete objectives and compete against others. The game takes place on the planet Fortuna III, where you'll encounter various alien monsters, but the planet itself is also deadly if you stay there too long.
The game playfully adopts a PvEvP concept, including cooperative elements, multiplayer experiences, and social interactions among players.
"These social dynamics give the game a special twist.", according to Yager CEO Timo Ullmann. "Players try to achieve goals, forming or dissolving temporary alliances with other players in the process. Anyone can attack anyone, anyone can ally with anyone. Players can be both cooperative and competitive at the same time. When you encounter new players on your path, anything can happen."
While a PC release including an alpha phase is initially planned, a console version is expected to follow later.
