Ubisoft has delivered a genuine surprise today with 'The Division 2', which the publisher just announced seemingly out of nowhere. However, there is currently very little information available about the shooter.
In recent days, it had already become apparent that Ubisoft Massive was embarking on a major project, following numerous job postings for a project based on an existing franchise from the studio. Today's announcement states:
“We are very excited to announce that we are currently working on Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. Development is being led by Massive Entertainment and driven by close collaboration with Ubisoft Annecy, Redstorm, Reflections, Ubisoft Bucharest, and Ubisoft Shanghai. The Division 2 will be based on an updated version of the Snowdrop Engine, which will help us realize our ambitions for this title. More importantly, we can also bring to this sequel all the experience we have gained over the past two years to ensure that everything runs smoothly.”
More information about The Division 2 is expected in a few minutes during a livestream hosted by Ubisoft Massive starting at 17 PM. via Twitch will hold.
The Division will continue to be supported.
Furthermore, it was stated that the original The Division will continue to be supported. But that's not all. Following the 2-year anniversary celebrations, the game will receive two further title updates. These include brand-new Global Events, additional legendary difficulty missions, and more.
The Division 2 is expected to be released by the end of March 2019.
