Sometimes you get the feeling that publishers are practically forcing you to abandon physical media by making it increasingly unattractive. Ubisoft's 'The Division 2' is a prime example of this.
As the publisher namely on the official website The company states that despite the disc version, a Day One patch of around 90 gigabytes will be required, plus further updates that are already in the pipeline and will add another 2 gigabytes.
"If you purchased a physical copy of the game, begin installing from the disc. Provided you are online, your console will simultaneously download Title Update 1 while you install it. Expect a 88-92 GB download, depending on your region and preferred language. Whether installed from a disc or downloaded digitally, the final HDD install size will be between 88-92 GB."
Essentially, you'll have to download the entire game again, and the disc will only be needed to launch it. This also applies to beta testers, who can't simply continue using the existing client but will also have to download the complete game.
The Division 2 will be officially released on March 15, 2019.
