Bethesda announced the next major expansion for 'The Elder Scrolls Online' today, Tuesday. This new adventure will see Elder Scrolls fans return to the legendary island of Vvardenfell – the setting of the open-world role-playing game The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, which defined the entire genre.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind will be the largest expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online to date. It includes a huge new zone, a new character class, a new trial, and offers over 30 hours of additional story gameplay, as well as a new PvP mode for three teams of four players each. Both ESO veterans and newcomers can expect a fantastic new adventure.

A new Scrolls chapter

Collar sizes are accessible. Both existing players and newcomers to ESO will enjoy the many new game features and content.

  • New players: Beginners can jump right into The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind and create a new character. No prior experience with other ESO content is necessary. Since the ESO base game is included with The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, hundreds of hours of additional adventures across Tamriel await new players.
  • Existing players: ESO veterans will be able to upgrade immediately and travel to Vvardenfell to begin the new epic adventure. They can expect a tailored challenge: thanks to last October's One Tamriel update, game content is scaled to character level. Furthermore, existing players can choose to start with a new character.
  • Haven't played ESO in a while? The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind offers a great opportunity to continue with your old heroes or try out a brand-new character. Since ESO doesn't require a monthly fee, you can simply reinstall the game, log in, and jump right in.

Return to Morrowind

Vvardenfell is the largest zone added to The Elder Scrolls Online since its release. It uses the same geographical profile as The Elder Scrolls III, including key landmarks from the classic game. Set 700 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls III, players embark on a perilous journey through iconic locations in Vvardenfell, from the docks of Seyda Neen to the volcanic Ashlands and forests teeming with giant mushrooms, culminating in the glory of the city of Vivec, which in this era is still under construction.

New Class – The Guardian

With the powerful new Warden character class, players can master nature magic. The Warden is the first additional class since the release of ESO. In keeping with the best traditions of ESO and the Elder Scrolls series, players have the freedom to choose between different abilities that allow for diverse playstyles. Wardens also have a powerful battle ally in the War Bear. This fierce companion remains by the Warden's side even in the most heated battles.

A fantastic new story

Set roughly 700 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls III, The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind takes players on a captivating adventure in the legendary Vvardenfell. They'll encounter familiar locations, characters, and storylines that will evoke nostalgic feelings in longtime Elder Scrolls fans and add a new chapter to the ESO saga. Morrowind is in grave danger, and it's up to the player to help Vivec, the legendary warrior-poet and guardian of Vvardenfell. Only by solving the mystery surrounding Vivec's enigmatic illness and restoring his strength can the world's destruction be averted.

New PvP Mode – Battlegrounds

The Elder Scrolls Online is famous for its open-world PvP battles, where hundreds of players fight for supremacy in Cyrodiil. The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind will introduce a new PvP mode called Battlegrounds, featuring fierce combat between three teams of four players in arena-like environments. In the Ashlands, players will vie to be counted among the toughest fighters in all of Tamriel.
