This week, the promising survival adventure 'The Forest' from Endnight Games will be released first for PlayStation 4, while Xbox One owners can currently only hope that a corresponding version will follow for them.

Sony was simply faster in securing exclusivity, as the developer now reveals:

"Sony was the first to contact us when the first trailer for the game was released. We have since been able to build a really good relationship with them and knew that as a small team we could only focus on one console, which is exclusive for a short time."

As mentioned, Xbox One owners can therefore hope for a subsequent release, which they are at least interested in.

In The Forest, you are the sole survivor of a crashed passenger jet, stranded in a mysterious forest inhabited by cannibalistic mutants. Your task is to explore the forest, build a safe shelter, and ultimately survive. If that's not scary enough, you can also explore caves where the most terrifying creatures imaginable await. But it is precisely here that the most valuable resources lie waiting to be discovered.

The Forest will be released digitally this week.
