Anyone who, during the presentation of 'The Last Guardian' for PlayStation 4 a few days ago, also had the feeling that they were still seeing the PS3 trailer, was indeed correct in their assumption.
According to Sony World Wide Studio boss Shuhei Yoshida, no graphics upgrade has been planned since the 2009 presentation, and the game will look comparable on PlayStation 4 when it is expected to be released in 2016. This is the vision for the game, and it hasn't changed. The difference now is simply that they weren't yet able to implement it using the PlayStation 3. Furthermore, according to creator Fumito Ueda-san, there's no need to change anything about the game. However, they acknowledge that the game is graphically outdated and will always be associated with the PS3 era.
Since then, the primary focus has been on how to get the game running at all, so the development of 'The Last Guardian' only really picked up speed in 2014.
They are also confident that they will be able to meet the release date next year, although they cannot yet give a guarantee.
