Following Cliff Bleszinski, God of War director David Jaffe has now also spoken out about Ready at Dawn's 'The Order: 1886' and the negative reviews the game has received in the past.

Jaffe believes the game may have fallen victim to typical sensationalist journalism, particularly among the magazines that awarded the shooter only 2 out of 10 points. Even though he hasn't played the game himself, he can't imagine it being that bad and that the low rating was deliberately chosen for clickbait purposes. The justification given in this case is the negative publicity surrounding the game in the days leading up to its release.

Since Jaffe himself hadn't yet formed a final opinion on 'The Order: 1886', he sought the opinions of his colleagues at his own studio, The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency, who came to quite different conclusions. On the one hand, they believe the game was unfairly punished, while on the other hand, they also acknowledge the criticisms were justified. After all, an entertainment product has to be entertaining, and if it fails to do so, low scores are perfectly acceptable. Conversely, these extremely divided opinions spurred others on to try the game for themselves.

Looking at the user reviews on Amazon.de, the majority of players are enthusiastic about The Order: 1886, which, in their opinion, delivers exactly what they expected from the game.
