Ubisoft is slowly ramping up its major projects again. After a relatively quiet period in 2025, several heavyweight titles are slated for release in 2026/2027, including a remake of... Splinter Cell and their own WWII game, internally codenamed "Project Crest." That's what they claim. Insider reports.
The Splinter Cell Remake (Codenamed "Project North") is the most exciting announcement for many fans. The original games defined the stealth-action genre, but the series has been dormant for years. Ubisoft wants to combine its former strengths with modern technology, so not just a graphics update, but a true reimagining. Whether it succeeds depends on how much Ubisoft respects the core elements: stealth, suspense, and tactical gameplay. No one needs a "Splinter Cell" with an open-world checklist.
Own WW2 project with risks
In parallel, Ubisoft is working on a WWII shooter called "Project Crest". Unlike typical campaign shooters, this will be an extraction shooter, meaning missions with a limited duration where players risk equipment and must secure rewards.
The concept sounds fresh, but it also carries risks: The market for extraction shooters is small, and many players associate World War II more with classic single-player experiences. Whether Ubisoft will hit the right niche with this remains to be seen.
In addition to these two projects, other titles are in the starting blocks: a new Far Cry, Assassin's Creed Hex, Prince of Persia Remake and even Beyond Good and Evil 2, which is actually still alive. Ubisoft is therefore deliberately bundling its releases into a compact period, since 2025 is almost considered a transitional year.
Ubisoft is planning big, perhaps even too big for such a short timeframe. Splinter Cell Remake It has the potential to fill a gaping hole in the portfolio if it stays true to the series' DNA. The WWII game sounds experimental, but could just as easily fail if it deviates too much from the target audience's expectations.
For gamers, it remains exciting: 2026/2027 could be the time when Ubisoft proves whether its new quality strategy actually bears fruit or whether it ultimately remains just big names without substance.

I'm curious to see what happens!
I don't know what you all have against Ubisoft? I like them. I always pre-order Assassin's Creed and am always super satisfied; the Far Cry games were great too.
Far Cry 6 was a disaster, Assassin's Creed was too big, and since Open Worlds it's just been the same old thing. Nothing else works for them. Rainbow Six Siege is a joke, Ghost Recon was the last always-online installment and a fail, Watch Dogs was great but got killed... Ubisoft is destroying itself.
I was hoping it would be a single-player shooter with a good campaign, but what a stupid thing to do at Ubisoft...
We can be glad if they bring Rayman back properly and don't mess up Splinter Cell.
What a shame, they used to be so, so good.
