Developer One More Level has postponed the release of "Valor Mortis" from September 24th to October 13th, 2026. This was officially announced by the studio and publisher Lyrical Games. The reason for the postponement of the first-person Soulslike game is the completely overloaded release calendar in September.
The September exodus has begun.
The problem is self-inflicted, as the entire industry is trembling before the November release of "Grand Theft Auto 6". Nobody wants to compete with Rockstar's blockbuster so soon. The consequence: Everyone squeeze their titles into September.
When Remedy announced September 24th as the release date for the highly anticipated "Control: Resonant," the Ghostrunner developers pulled the plug. A smart move. A new IP like Valor Mortis would have simply been lost among "Marvel's Wolverine," "Silent Hill: Townfall," and "Control." This way, the dark Napoleonic action game at least gets some breathing room.
For us gamers, this means a brief respite for our wallets. But those who are keen on the setting don't have to sit twiddling their thumbs until autumn. Simultaneously with the delay, the developers released a demo on Steam.

This not only gives the team strategic protection from AAA competition, but also the chance to incorporate direct community feedback into the final polish. Technical issues or quality problems are therefore not behind the delay. It's pure fear of the September crash.
The delay of almost three weeks isn't a warning sign, but pure damage control. One More Level is saving its game from immediate oblivion in the September hype. Whether October will truly be quieter with heavyweights like "Gears of War: E-Day" remains to be seen. However, the chances of attracting attention are definitely better for the fresh scenario in October.
What do you think: Is the change to October 13th the lifeline for Valor Mortis, or will the game fall straight into the next release trap in the October calendar?
