It came as a bit of a surprise that Sony acquired the development studio Guerilla Cambridge shortly after the release of their VR title 'RIGS' last year. completely sealed Criticisms included the fact that the title never really had the chance to grow further.

Instead of giving up, former developers from the studio decided to strike out on their own and founded their own development studio, Virtual Arts. The company was launched in December 2016, also based in Cambridge and led by CEO Nizar Romdan and CTO Doug Day.

Like Romdan This explainsVR technology will one day be a completely normal part of our everyday lives, and devices with their current performance will dominate the market. And that's precisely why we want to provide content and technology for this purpose.

According to their own statements, Virtual Arts is dedicated to the VR, AR, and MR markets and is currently working on a unique technology platform to create stunning content for entry-level devices. This suggests they are targeting devices like Google Daydream or Gear VR, rather than the major VR headsets from Sony, HTC, and others. However, they also intend to make this technology available through licensing, so theoretically anyone can use it. Beyond that, they also plan to create their own unique experiences and games.

Whether any of this will eventually make it to PlayStation VR remains to be seen.
