During this year's Gamescom, we had the pleasure of playing a round of the new shooter. Hyenas from SEGA. The title was released about a year ago. announced and has made enormous progress since then.
In HyenasIn this game, developed by Creative Assembly, we fight for merchandise and loot in a post-apocalyptic world, using these valuable goods to gain wealth and power. We take on the role of one of many heroes and battle security forces and other hyenas in either PvP or PvE. The goal is to reach the vaults where we collect merchandise from the Sega universe. Once we've gathered enough valuable items, we can take the VIP shuttle exit. But beware: the other hyenas are after our loot and won't make it easy for us.
Gameplay with a twist
The gameplay is very simple at its core, but it still holds a few surprises. Essentially, it's a classic hero shooter. The maps feature several NPC enemies and supplies such as grenades, medkits, and other aids. If we take damage, we can restore our health or shield; if we're completely wiped out, our teammates can revive or regenerate our health.
In addition, the environment constantly presents us with new challenges, requiring us to use traps and other tricks. The ability to switch gravity on or off and move freely through space is particularly interesting. This offers entirely new possibilities for gaining an advantage in combat.
Graphically, it makes Hyenas It already makes a very good impression. The demo ran flawlessly, and the presentation was quite appealing. We particularly like the many details that reference pop culture or well-known characters from the SEGA universe. The atmosphere is extremely fast-paced and can be a bit overwhelming at first, but the learning curve seems very steep. The team component and the associated coordination are crucial.
