Digital Extremes unveiled the latest expansion, 'Fortuna', for the MMO 'Warframe' at TennoCon last weekend, which directly follows the 'Plains of Eidolon' Update from last year.
With imaginative terrain and science fiction aesthetics, Fortuna, with its Venus-inspired landscape, promises an exciting new gameplay experience, including the introduction of a new faction and story – the Solaris United faction and their fight against their Corpus overlords – as well as expanded vertical gameplay.
Starting from the underground colony of Fortuna, where players collect bounties and missions, Tenno ascends to the surface of Orb Vallis to explore exotic new terrain featuring Orokin structures, towering fungi, and oceanic flora. Tenno can also traverse the landscape more quickly using the Bondi K-Drive, a single-player hoverboard that flies across the environment at the touch of a button.
Codename: Railjack
According to Digital Extremes, the latest expansion is part of a larger vision. Alongside Fortuna, Warframe will embark on a completely new path with a separate future update. "Codename: Railjack" will allow 1-4 players to board a warship on land and ascend into space to explore and battle there.
Players coordinate responsibilities within the military spacecraft to conduct PvE battles against enemies. The Full Space experience offers extensive player freedom with options to launch Archwings into space, board enemy ships during combat, infiltrate them, and destroy them. This future update aims to create a cohesive gameplay experience across Warframe's open landscapes, procedurally generated levels, and a new freedom in space within a unique science fiction world.
