Digital Extremes released the next update for the free-to-play shooter 'Warframe' today on PS4 and Xbox One. The latest update, 'The Glast Gambit', includes the new Warframe Nidus, who possesses special Infestation powers, as well as a new quest, new weapons, customizations, and mods.
The new update is, of course, also available for free. The only requirement is that players have completed The War Within, the biggest cinematic quest of the year, released in November 2016. Summoned by Ergo Glast from the Perrin sequence, players set off for the Myconia colony. There, they encounter a colony where questionable practices are commonplace and whose success depends on a mysterious figure. Driven by his greed for profit, the Corpus Aristocrat Nef Anyo has kidnapped the Myconian children, and now it's up to the Tenno to bring them back. Players must confront Nef in the Index and beat him at his own game. But they should be wary, because not everything is as it seems.
The highlights of "The Glass Gambit" in detail:
- New Warframe: The Tenno plague their enemies with the Infestation abilities of Lotus' newest warrior, Nidus. By spawning maggots that seek out their own targets near enemies, they spread the Infestation. Nidus can also manifest infected vines that immobilize enemies and simply pass the damage the players receive to infected foes.
- New Customizations: New community-created Warframe additions from the TennoGen program are now available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. Console Tenno can obtain the following customizations on the Market: Volt Amp Skin, Volt Arrester Helmet, Mag Orbit Skin, Chroma Tarrasque Helmet, and Excalibur Sentient Slayer Skin.
- New quest: Nef Anyo has kidnapped the children of the Myconian colony. The Tenno put Nef on the Index and defeat him at his own game.
- New weapons: New weapons and customizations must be handled with care, as they are corrupted by infestation.
- Hema: This symbiotic rapid-fire rifle consumes the player's health with each shot, but fully restores it with every headshot.
- Hirudo: Tenno tear their opponents apart with razor-sharp cartilage on their fists. However, every critical hit also costs them health.
- Riven Mods: These new mods for secondary weapons increase the players' strength. But before players can use them, they must first prove themselves.
- Thorac Syandana: The Tenno can now adorn themselves with this serpentine spinal ornament in typical Infestation style.
