Between console strategy and exclusivity tactics

Sony has thus secured a title that is already available in China for PC and mobile devices and has found an interested audience there. At the same time, the decision seems somewhat contradictory: It was only recently announced that the company's own helldivers 2 It will also be released for Xbox in the future – a move that calls into question Sony's previous platform policy. So why invest in exclusive deals when they're opening up their own games to other platforms?

The deal surrounding Where Winds Meet It acts like a signal: “Yes, we are still playing in the exclusive battle – but only selectively.“Sony is openly and transparently communicating a time commitment to the PS5 in this case. This is incomparable to the strange lack of transparency surrounding…” Black MythWukong, about which they didn't want to comment at all.

Martial arts with a profile – but is that enough?

It is playfully oriented Where Winds Meet Clearly rooted in the traditions of Wuxia cinema – that is, stylized sword fights with supernatural elements. The historical setting is the Ten Kingdoms era, in which two rival dynasties vie for power. The well-known action choreographer Stephen Tung was even brought in for the fighting system (Hero, House of Flying Daggers) obligated.

Sounds exciting – but it remains to be seen how much the game can actually stand out from other open-world titles. Visually, much of it feels familiar, and without a concrete PS5 release date, the project remains in limbo for now. Those interested can sign up for a Register for the final gameplay test on July 25th. Publisher NetEase opens the registration process for this.
