WWE 2K26 impresses in the review check with its gameplay depth and CM Punk Showcase, but receives criticism for the Ringside Pass. Here's what the Metascore says.

Visual Concepts delivers with WWE 2K26 It represents a technically sound evolution, noticeably focusing on physics-based interaction and a more dynamic presentation. While the Metascore of 77 on the PS5 reflects solid quality, a closer look reveals a deep gap between gameplay excellence and questionable monetization structures.

Gameplay depth meets outdated progression models.

The playful basis of WWE 2K26 It receives almost universal praise for its maturity. SpazioGames (85) highlights that the revamped physics and dynamic presentation system capture the spirit of the sport better than ever before. Object collision detection feels more precise, resulting in a more organic match flow, especially in the new match types. XGN (75) confirms this impression, speaking of significantly improved, realistic gameplay. The core loop in the ring is more responsive than ever. A necessary step towards simulation.

In terms of content, it's huge. WWE 2K26 properly. The Showcase mode all about CM Punk PSX Brasil (85) hails it as an emotional highlight that brilliantly portrays the "Best in the World" story. According to Restart.run (80), the depth of MyGM and Universe modes remains unmatched when it comes to the meticulous planning of your own shows. Daily Star even gives it a near-perfect score of 95, seeing the game as close to perfection once the remaining bugs are fixed via a patch. The quantity and quality of the modes are therefore largely satisfactory.

The ringside pass as a mood killer

The biggest criticism focuses on the new "Ringside Pass" and the general grind-heavy nature of the game. GamesRadar+ (70) draws a clear line here and even recommends waiting to buy until the long-term consequences of MyFaction's monetization are clearer.

TechRadar Gaming (70) sharply criticizes the fact that paid DLC content is additionally locked behind time-consuming progression walls. Wccftech (75) even warns that the series is getting dangerously close to the aggressive microtransaction models of NBA 2K cautiously approaching. A major setback for community loyalty.

Outliers and fundamental criticism

Dexerto stands out completely with a score of 40. The criticism here is that the game gets bogged down in constantly introducing new match types and the Showcase format, instead of significantly deepening its existing foundations. While IGN Adria (80) still speaks of an ongoing winning streak, this stark outlier calls for an end to the annual iteration logic. The system seems exhausted to some.

WWE 2K26 For purists, this is currently the best wrestling experience on the market. The mechanics are solid, the graphics engine delivers stable frame times, and the atmosphere in the arenas is exemplary. However, those who are allergic to artificial grinding and the new Ringside Pass will be left with a bitter aftertaste despite the game's high quality. A must-buy for fans of the sport, but a warning sign for anyone expecting a fair reward system.

For what 2K is doing here, one should refuse to give a rating and merely point out that this is a fragmented game behind a whole chain of monetization tricks, which in this form cannot be treated like a fully-fledged product.

For owners of one of the previous versions, this is doubly problematic, as they will find familiar content not only recycled, but recycled AND behind paywalls.
