A new rumor is causing a stir in the God of War-Fandom: Kratos could continue his epic journey in Egyptian mythology. After the successful conclusion of the Norse saga in God of War Ragnarok the question arises as to where Santa Monica Studio will take the popular series next. Insider information is now fueling speculation and making fans dream.

Sony casts Middle-East Actors

The well-known insider Daniel Richtman claimsthat Sony is currently casting actors from the Middle East for a AAA PlayStation game. Although it has not been confirmed that it is God of War, Richtman believes it is "probably" that the casting is related to the continuation of the iconic series. The reference to Egyptian mythology suggests that this could be the new stage for Kratos' bloody adventures.

The idea of the series moving to Egypt is nothing new. Even before the 2018 reboot, fans were speculating about this possibility, and a 2021 comic book spin-off showed that Kratos had even had contact with Egyptian mythology before. What's more, recent God of War games have repeatedly sprinkled in subtle references to other pantheons - including Egyptian mythology. In particular, the Norse god Tyr mentioned journeys to various god worlds, which shows that Egypt already exists as a potential setting in the God of War universe.

Egypt would be an incredibly exciting setting

If the rumor is true, we could encounter iconic Egyptian deities such as Ra, Anubis or Isis in future games. The desert landscapes, pyramids and mystical temples of Egypt offer enough potential for breathtaking settings and thrilling battles. But despite the promising prospects, Richtman urges caution: "So far, it's just speculation.

Even if Kratos really does immerse himself in the world of the pharaohs, it will probably be years before we see the first tangible information or even trailers. Santa Monica Studio is currently working in parallel on a new science fiction IPwhich also demands the team's attention.

For fans, the anticipation remains high - and the hope that the next saga will be just as epic as the original adventures. Kratos against the gods of Egypt? That sounds like a spectacle that fans have been looking forward to for years. It is still unclear what will become of the remake or Remaster of the original trilogy which still only exists as a rumor.
