What did we think after the leak? A remaster of Oblivion? Sure, another HD upgrade with minimal changes, as you see too often. But Bethesda and developer Virtuos are now impressively proving otherwise - and faster than you can say "Daedra": The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is available immediately, only a few days after all the leaks. And yes, it is more spectacular than we had hoped.

Unreal Engine 5 instead of nostalgia filter

What Bethesda delivers here with Virtuos is not a simple polish. Oblivion Remastered was completely redeveloped in Unreal Engine 5. Not a single asset was left untouched. Every tree, every temple, every sword hilt has been reconstructed from the ground up. The shadows are more realistic, the faces less puppet-like, and Cyrodiil now actually looks like a living place - not like a museum piece from 2006 with a mod patch.

Todd Howard himself calls the game has a "decisive moment" for Bethesda. And he's right. Oblivion was the title that turned a niche RPG into a global brand. Now it is returning - but not as a mere monument, but as a reinvented vision for current hardware.

Nostalgia meets comfort

In addition to the revised look Oblivion Remastered all the content that the original has accumulated over the years. The story expansions Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine are included, as are all the little DLC packs that once amused fans - yes, even the legendary Horse Armor Pack.

In terms of gameplay, the controls and interface have been adapted, loading times minimized and animations improved - without betraying the soul of the game. Veterans will immediately feel at home, newcomers will discover a role-playing game that still effortlessly holds its own against modern genre giants in 2025.

Deluxe Edition for detail lovers

The Deluxe Edition comes with a digital artbook, the official soundtrack and exclusive in-game bonuses such as Akatosh armor and a new horse set. This will not only make your hero more stylish, but also your inventory a little more elite.

Oblivion Remastered is more than just a technical update. It's a declaration of love to a game that left many of us open-mouthed in front of the world of Tamriel for the first time. This new edition shows how a remaster should be: respectful, in love with detail and yet brave enough to rethink everything. Those who have never visited Cyrodiil now have no excuse. And those who have been there before will not recognize it - in the best sense of the word.

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion: Remastered is now available in the PlayStation Store available for 64.99 euros.
