The gaming world was confronted with a real loss yesterday, Tuesday, when the planned Wonder Woman game from Monolith was canceled. This game, which was never to see the light of day, was described by insiders as a true masterpiece - and not without reason. According to comic book writer Gail Simone, the game was "mind-blowing and expansive", a project that made the dreams of many Wonder Woman players and fans come true.

Ambitious and a dream for fans

Simone, who was deeply involved in the development of the game, enthused in a passionate post on X. The game is not only a technical highlight, but also a true "showcase epic". "It was beautiful to watch", she explained, revealing that the studio really made every effort to create not only a great game, but also a great Wonder Woman-experience. The ambition to integrate the legendary comic universe on the PS5 was palpable in every corner of the project.

What made the game so special was the dream team behind the development. Simone praised Monolith's team, calling it a "dream team of developers" who did everything they could to create the perfect final product - from the programmers to the artists to the designers. The focus on detail and passion for the characters and stories of the DC universe was evident at every stage of the project. Simone even called the game a "dream come true", as it fulfilled all expectations for a Wonder Woman adventure.

Sometimes it doesn't work

But despite all this enthusiasm and potential, fans had to come to terms with the bitter reality: The game was never completed. "Sometimes you give it your all and it doesn't work out"says Simone with a touch of resignation. For all those who had been looking forward to an epic adventure with Diana of Themyscira, all that remains is to imagine what could have been - such an adventure. Wonder Woman-The game could have been really amazing.

Behind the game was a vision that went far beyond what many would have expected from a superhero game. Monolith, best known for the groundbreaking Shadow of Mordorseries, not only wanted to create an action-packed adventure with this project, but to place Wonder Woman as an iconic heroine at the center of a deep narrative experience. The developers worked to not only portray Diana of Themyscira as a powerful warrior, but also to explore her complex personality and relationships with other DC characters.

Everything an adventure game should offer

The game was to be set in an open world in which players had the freedom to travel through different environments and fight epic battles as Wonder Woman. Particularly innovative was the idea of using the so-called "nemesis system" from Shadow of Mordor to create dynamic enmities and interactions. Players should not only face legions of enemies, but also be confronted with the moral dilemmas and challenges of a superhero in the classic DC universe. The combination of action, exploration and in-depth story was supposed to offer a unique and comprehensive Wonder Woman experience that would have revolutionized expectations of superhero games. Unfortunately, this vision now remains incomplete - a tragic loss for the gaming world.

In addition to the recruitment of Wonder Woman the associated studio was also Monolith Productions finally closed.
