Fans of stylish demon hunting have reason to hope: a new clue suggests that Devil May Cry 6 could already be in the works - and by the man who has lent his voice to Dante for years, of all people. In a Interview with CultureScape Reuben Langdon spoke about the series - and left a rather interesting (and possibly treacherous) rate.

A small slip of the tongue with a big impact?

Langdon first directly mentioned "Devil May Cry 6", only to correct himself frantically afterwards: He meant part 5, of course. Definitely. Maybe. Or maybe not. It's also not the first slip of the tongue of this kind. It was only in February that Vergil voice actor Daniel Southworth commented on the series and gave a supposed reference to a new Devil May Cry-Game. At the time, people believed it was a remake.

Anyway, fans are reacting as you would expect: with wild speculation, digital glee and Reddit threads that have dissected every breath of the interview. After all, who, if not Langdon, should know about a potential sequel? He was the voice of Dante in parts 3, 4 and 5 and is considered an integral part of the franchise. So if Capcom really is working on a new spin-off, Langdon would almost certainly be involved early on - and would therefore have information that we mere mortals are not yet allowed to have.

Capcom's perfect stage for a comeback

And the timing? Could hardly be better. The new Devil May Cry-animated series on Netflix is currently providing a breath of fresh air in the fanbase. The hype machine is running. Capcom would be foolish not to take advantage of this moment - be it for a big announcement, a sneaky teaser or the unveiling of DMC6.

But before you start sharpening your sword: Of course, it could really have been a harmless slip of the tongue. A harmless slip of the tongue that just happens to mention the exact name of the potential next game. Sure.

Nevertheless, the signs are good. Six years have passed since Devil May Cry 5 Capcom's interest in live services and long-running franchises is well known - and fan interest has never been greater. Whether deliberately leaked or not, the fire has been lit. And it won't be extinguished any time soon.

So, Capcom - how about a teaser? Or at least another "teaser"?
