After the mixed reception of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady Studios seems ready to turn things around and get back to its roots with a brand new Batman game. It's not officially confirmed yet, but a recently discovered job advertisement takes an interesting look at the studio's plans for the future. The ad suggests that the studio is working on a "yet-to-be-announced AAA title" that will be available for "high-end PCs, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and the next console generation" - i.e. PS6 and Xbox Next.

A new Batman in development?

A look at the ad and the details of the position for a "Senior Core Engine Programmer" suggests that Rocksteady is considering a cross-gen release. The use of the terms "high-end PCs" and "next generation consoles" speaks to a targeted development for current and future consoles. This could mean that the new Batman game could be released not only for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but also for their successors - a decision that is not too surprising given the game's stage of development so far.

Although the ad does not explicitly refer to the project as a Batman game, insider leaks assume that Rocksteady is working on a new one, Singleplayer-focused Batman game works. The developers who made history with the "Batman: Arkham" series haven't commented on their next projects for a long time, but the studio is known for its commitment to telling great superhero stories. The success of the 'Arkham' games has built Rocksteady's reputation, and there's little doubt that fans are waiting for a new episode of the gritty Gotham story.

Cross-gen strategy

The timing could be perfect. The current consoles have now established themselves, and a next-gen Batman could catapult the gaming experience to new heights - impressive graphics, greater open-world possibilities and in-depth, gripping storytelling. Rocksteady could not only eradicate the weaknesses of "Suicide Squad", but also exceed expectations for the next-generation superhero title. So now At least 5 titles in progresswhich will also be released for the next generation of consoles.

Of course, these are only initial indications and many things can still change. The game is at an early stage of development, so changes in direction and platforms are entirely possible. But if the rumors are true, we can expect a Batman experience that combines the strengths of the past with the technology of tomorrow - and on a variety of platforms to reach as many fans as possible. It remains exciting to see what secrets Rocksteady will reveal.
