Soon the time will come: "Days Gone" celebrates its comeback - and with a loud bang. The remastered version of the post-apocalyptic biker adventure will be officially released on April 25 for PlayStation 5 and PC. But before you start your engines, here's everything you need to know - including the exact release date, upgrade options, brand new features and info that will make you sit up and take notice: The first reviews will probably only arrive in the coming hours. This means: no test reports in advance, no Metacritic rating, no "day one hype" on classic gaming sites - at least not at launch.
The countdown to the release
Sony is sticking to its timetable: The official release of the remastered version will take place at midnight in several time zones - globally coordinated. For PS5 players in Europe, the adventure will therefore start on Friday, April 25, 0:00 a.m.. If you live in Australia or Japan, you can get started after their time.
Anyone who owns "Days Gone" on the PS4 can upgrade to the remastered version for a fair €10 - but with restrictions. Only owners of the disc version and a PS5 with drive can use the upgrade from launch. Those who own a PS5 Digital Edition and only have the game on disc, on the other hand, are left holding the bag - the only option here is to buy a new version at a price of 49.99 euros. The same applies to those who have purchased the PlayStation Plus version. Here, too, the low-cost upgrade is excluded.
The situation is different for buyers of the former digital PS4 version: They can easily upgrade now and start the pre-load - which costs around 35 GB and is therefore even slimmer than the current PS4 version. As a little extra, pre-order bonuses beckon, including:
- Early activation of the Drifter crossbow
- Early activation of the nitrous oxide improvement #1
- Early activation of the tank upgrade #1
- Early activation of the cladding improvement #1
- Early activation of the wrench skill
- Set with eight PSN avatars
That's what's new - and that's not a small amount
Sony has "Days Gone Remastered" not simply made prettierbut also playfully pimped up:
- DualSense support with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers
- New accessibility options for more accessibility
- A greatly improved photo mode
- The hard-hitting permadeath mode
- The fast speedrun mode
- The action-packed Horde Assault mode
- The challenging survival arcade
And the Days Gone Remastered reviews?
The big question mark remains: Why are there no reviews in advance? Industry experts suspect that Sony has deliberately not distributed any advance access - perhaps because they want to surprise. Or perhaps because they want to avoid discussions about price and content in advance. The fact is: The first real opinions will only appear shortly - but hopefully with all the more substance.
Until then, the motto is: Helmet on, engine on and off to the Broken Road. If you still want to take a look, you can find the first gameplay streams on YouTube.
