Neben den zahlreichen Game-Ankündigungen bei den heutigen The Game Awards wurde auch die Awards in zahlreichen Kategorien vergeben. Es gibt große Gewinner, aber auch große Verlierer, darunter Sony, die nur in einer entfernten Kategorie ausgezeichnet wurden.
Der große Gewinner des Abends ist Baldur’s Gate 3, das zum Game of the Year gekrönt wurde, aber auch abseits dessen gut abgeräumt hat. Gleiches gilt für Alan Wake 2 und Forza Motorsport, während Cyberpunk 2077 nun endlich auch seinen Award bekommen hat.
Für Sony sah es in diesem Jahr ziemlich schlecht aus, die mit Marvel’s Spider-Man zwar mehrfach nominiert waren, aber in keiner der Kategorien gewonnen haben. Eine Auszeichnung gab es lediglich für die TV-Adaption von The Last of Us am Ende.
