Historically, about two years pass between this milestone and market launch—which would suggest a release in November 2027.
There are also initial indications regarding the hardware. The PS6's GPU is said to be based on an early fork of the gfx13 architecture. However, details about its performance remain vague and could be adjusted or changed until the very last minute. Therefore, no one will likely want to commit to anything definitive at this time.
If the information proves true, the PS5 generation would last exactly seven years – the same span as the PS4. A later release, around 2028, had seemed likely, as Sony's mid-gen upgrade, the PS5 Pro, suggested a four-year transition period.
